Effects of Stage Spacing on Contra-Rotating Propeller Aerodynamic Interactions

چکیده

Abstract To identify the law of aerodynamic interactions contra-rotating propellers (CRPs) and improve their aerodynamics, this study investigates 4 CRPs (six blades in front six back) with different stage spacings using Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations-based method. The results showed that CRP whose spacing was 0.25 times propeller diameter delivered highest average efficiency between rear decreased as widened, compared propeller, one more sensitive to due interaction-generated thrust fluctuations. It can be seen exerts a significant effect on interactions. Therefore, choosing an appropriate design is great significance enhance its aerodynamics.

Analysis and Experiments for Contra - Rotating Propeller

Contra-rotating propellers have renewed interest from the naval architecture community, because of the recent development of electric propulsion drives and podded propulsors. Contrarotating propulsion systems have the hydrodynamic advantages of recovering part of the slipstream rotational energy which would otherwise be lost utilizing a conventional screw propeller system. The application of th...

hydrodynamic design of contra-rotating propeller for the ships

this paper describes a contra-rotating propeller (crp) system to calculate the hydrodynamic characteristics and then design the optimum operational condition to be installed on two different large bulk carriers and vlcc. the method is based on boundary element method (bem) to obtain the hydrodynamic performance of any complicated configuration such as crp system, and then the optimum propeller ...

Rotating propeller solitons.

We demonstrate experimentally and theoretically (both analytically and numerically) a new type of spatial soliton: a rotating "propeller" soliton. This is a composite soliton made of a rotating dipole component jointly trapped with a bell-shaped component. We observe as much as 239 degrees of rotation over 13 mm of propagation (6.5 diffraction lengths).

Trans-sonic Propeller Stage

We follow the approach used by Davies and Pringle (1981) and discuss the trans-sonic substage of the propeller regime. This substage is intermediate between the supersonic and subsonic propeller substages. In the trans-sonic regime an envelope around a magnetosphere of a neutron star passes through a kind of a reorganization process. The envelope in this regime consists of two parts. In the bot...
